With Sensei Hamann at the USKK Symposium in 2025

We just finished two long but exciting weekends in Cincinnati training with our instructors in both karate and jodo.

First, Tim and Sensei went to Cinci June 19-22 to train with instructors from Japan.

Chosho Fukuhara Sensei, wearing white in the photo above, teaches out of his Meisuikan Dojo in Naha, Okinawa. Nate England Sensei, seated on the far right, is our direct jodo instructor, and Fukuhara Sensei brought his friends and family to the US to visit and train with England Sensei and his students. It was a great four days of training alongside our dojo family from the Kosho School of Karate, and we learned a lot.

Sensei returned to Cincinnati a few days later to attend the first annual United States Karate-do Kai Symposium under its new leadership following the passing of the original USKK founder, Master Phillip Koeppel. Patrick and four of our students joined us, and we had three days of great training sessions exposing us to several different karate styles. At the top of this post, there is a photo of us with my current teacher, David Hamann Sensei of the Kosho School of Karate. Following are two more of our group photos:

My philosophy is to never stop learning, and training events like these are invaluable experiences. It was a lot of travel in a short time, but it was a lot of sweat, a lot of learning, and also a lot of fun.
